The first Brigham City Skatepark was built in 2001 at the Rotary Constitution park. Funds were raised by local skaters and the city. Over the years skaters have had concerns about the skateabilty of the park and more recently the need for maintenance. A poll was put up on 2 local Facebook community groups and 400 responses were received in 24 hours. The majority of responses indicated the need for upgrades with the hope of a new skatepark.
We formed our committee with the hopes of making necessary repairs to the existing park. In just under a month we were able to get city approval to begin raising funds towards a new park.
As of January 1st 2025 we are a registered 501(c)3
We have monthly meetings scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm at the Skatepark. We are looking for an indoor meeting area for inclament weather. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. Youth are encouraged to attend any and all meetings with older youth being relied upon heavily for assistance at fundraisers and special events.
We are looking for interested individuals from every walk of life from youth to seniors. We are especially looking for people from within Box Elder County that have a background in committee work, fundraising, media and public relations, who have an interest in skateboarding, scooters, rollerblades, BMX or have children that have an interest action sports.
There are several roles for volunteers. The committee always needs members of varying backgrounds. This commitment will be meetings 1-2 times monthly as well as the occasional special events.
Special Event Volunteers will be called upon for fundraising activities, open houses and other isolated events or tasks that the committee needs help with. Events will be on a date by date basis with no regular meetings. Volunteers can be any age and will be needed on numerous occasions to help with special events and fund raising efforts.
The Brigham City Skatepark project is a grass roots community project. This means that the success of the project depends 100% on the involvement of the community. Brigham City is a growing community and It’s up to us in the community to drive change and to turn Brigham into the community we desire. This is our opportunity, with everyone on board this project will be a great success!
Building a Skatepark is not an overnight endeavor; it’s a multiyear project worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and needs to be done properly! The timeline can be moved forward when fundraising is completed.
